Actor Rejects Anti-Vax Views Following Narrating Disputed Pandemic Documentary
The "Taken" star has provided his vocal talents to a recent film that questions the efficacy of vaccines and commends ex- cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Feature's Contentious Foundation
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is adapted from a bestselling book published by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the pandemic for allegations that Covid was linked to a problematic version of the seasonal immunization.
The book's co-author, the executive producer, has penned books with far-right radio host Alex Jones. Heckenlively wrote online celebrating Neeson's involvement in the film.
An Unequivocal Statement
A spokesperson for the actor have provided a comment strongly denying claims that he holds anti-immunization beliefs.
"Many understand that misconduct might be present within the drug industry, but that should never be equated to rejection of vaccines," the comment reads. "Neeson never has been, and cannot be described as, anti-vaccination. His extensive work with Unicef reinforces his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement continued that the star was not involved in crafting the film's editorial content and that concerns about its assertions are best addressed to the creators.
Key Assertions Featured in the Feature
According to the documentary, the voiceover read by Neeson features several strong points:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have demanded "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It argues that "medical science has become dangerously politicised."
- RFK Jr is shown claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they simply are not properly vetted."
- The narration also criticizes Covid lockdowns, saying they caused severe distress that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it mentions a perspective that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Previous Context and Recent Issues
It includes a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the subject of a correction by the network for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr called on the CDC to revise its long-held position that there is no link between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is echoed in the film, even with a recent study from the WHO reiterating no such link has been found.
A Previous Statement of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the documentary's narrative, Neeson has previously voiced firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's narration proclaiming, "This isn't the conclusion of our narrative. Rather, it is the start of a new chapter."
