Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to change things and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with results so bad.”

He stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
