The distinguished British actress Mirren, already holder of an Academy Award, four Baftas, Globes trophies, five Emmys, plus a Tony, is set to earn an additional esteemed prize to her trophy case: the DeMille Globes' lifetime achievement award.

The actress, eighty, formerly honored as a dame back in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow back in 2014, will accept this honor during a presentation January 8, three days before the Golden Globes main event take place, within a program described by the Golden Globes as the Golden Eve event.

Also part of the event will be the presentation of the Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for TV work, the recipient of which remains unannounced. Previous recipients included Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, and her professional journey is absolutely remarkable,” said the organization’s president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her brilliant portrayals and commitment to her craft continue to inspire countless performers and fans too. We are deeply honored to present her with the DeMille prize.”

Career Highlights

Helen Mirren became well-known back in the 70s via important performances on stage in the West End of London and with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in cinematic works including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her prominent part in the investigative show Prime Suspect increased her popularity significantly. Other key films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a character she reprised during 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan concerning the sessions between the queen and prime minister Margaret Thatcher, a role for which Mirren won a Tony back in 2015.
