The President Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the individual that educators desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” the principal, the principal of her alma mater, informed the media. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Steps and Policy Revisions

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy prompted the government to suspend asylum applications and cease issuing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general Bondi stated on a news show that she also intended to speak to the family.

Impact of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” the governor addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
