Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have begun production, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish production lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Battlefield Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. The system has been tested in combat and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and brutal” following six people were killed and dozens injured in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in the capital just after 12 AM this past Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended crude shipments on Friday – representing two percent of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its military had fired domestically produced missiles and deployed various types of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to diminish the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted a processing plant in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

The number two oil producer Lukoil announced this past Friday it is negotiating with interested parties regarding its foreign assets after recent restrictions from Western nations and failure of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after conclusive negotiations have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” the company stated.

Zelenskyy Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to confer with lawmakers following his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed.
